This Day in the History of Sports
1909- Cleveland Indian Neal Ball recorded major league baseball's first unassisted triple play from the shortstop position in a duel against the Boston Red Sox ball club. One of rarest plays in baseball to date, the unnassisted triple play has only been recorded 13 times, recently this season, by a member of the Colorado Rockies.
