MLB Game of the Day: Giants vs. Cubs
Yet another consecutive game where the Chicago Cubs earn the game of the day appearance. Shocking. To the highlights. Barry Bonds would sit, making the game a battle of just two teams, no records, no media, just both riding for the win. The game remained scoreless until the third inning of play, where Koyie Hill's solo shot gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead over the visiting Giants. Yet two innings later in the fifth, Pedro Feliz would answer with a home run of his own to tie the game at 1 heading into the 6th inning of play. Guillermo Rodriguez's single cobined with an infielder's error would put the Giants over the top 2-1 in the eighth inning, or so they thought. Yet another comeback was in store from the roaring Cubbies. Aramiz Ramirez's double to deep right field electified the crowd, as two runners would score and the entire stadium would rise to their feet in excitement. The hometown Cubs would go on to take a 3-2 lead on the play, and it would hold to give the Cubs the win, and their fourth since the all-star break.
