MLB Game of the Day: Devil Rays vs. Angels
Yesterday in Tampa Bay, Florida, the bats were flying and the hits kept rolling all night long. The Devil Rays duked it out with the LA Angels yesterday, trying to add a win to their horrendous first half resume, and the Angels kept an eye out for what looked to be an easy blowout victory. It seemed like the Angels had taken control, as in no time they put a run up on the board in the first inning. Yet everything would fall apart from there, as runs would be relentlessly driven in by the home team. In the fourth inning, a single brought in a run tying the game at 1 apiece, and in the fifth inning a sacrifice groundout was well placed enough to score another run, and the score was 2-1 Rays. In the fifth, Carl Crawford stole third base, and an errand throw by Angel Joe Molina allowed Crawford to journey home for a 3-1 lead. Devil Ray slugger Ty Wigginton added another run with his solo shot to make the game 4-1 Devil Rays. As if that wasn't enough for the home crowd, Carlos Pena would smack a three run double with the bases loaded and send the ball deep enough into center field to bring home three runs, making the score a 7-1 Devil Ray advantage. In the ninth, the Angels could only score one run, and the Devil Rays got their much deserved win, by a final score of 7-2.
