MLB Game of the Day: Tigers vs Royals
Another interesting game took place in Motown yesterday, as the Tigers looked to bounce back from a 10-2 drubbing from the day before, and the Royals looked to add back to back wins against the home team, but it would be a struggle all game long. A Royals single scored a run in the 1st inning, but it would be answered by the Tigers by a home run and double by Craig Monroe to give the Tigers the lead 2-1. Troy Pena would score to tie the game at 2 apiece, but it wouldn't last long, as Craig Monroe would blast a three-run homer out of the park to make the score 5-2 in the favor of the Tigers. A single by Ivan Rodriguez followed by a Gary Sheffield double in the fifth would ensure another two runs would be tallied, making the score at that point 7-3. Yet from the 6th inning to the 9th inning, the Royals dominated as they went on a 5-1 scoring run to tie the game 8-8 in the ninth inning. Extra innings would prove to be necessary, but Detroit Tiger Brandon Inge would emerge as the hero, as a two-run HR would make the game 10-8 final, giving the Tigers the win in dramatic fashion.
