MLB All Star Game: AL vs NL

The midsummer classic had arrived, and the National League team was ready to take on the American League team. The game was a great one, and one exceptional hit will be remembered by all who witnessed it. In the first inning, Ken Griffey Jr. was able to bat in a run while Jose Reyes scored to put the NL up 1-0. The score would remain the same until the 5th inning, where Ichiro Suziki would hit the game's most memorable play. Suzuki would hit the ball into deep right field against the wall, and with his speed, he ran the bases and beat the throw to home and scored a two run in the park home run. The incredible play left the crowd stunned and made the score 2-1 AL. In the next inning, Carl Crawford homered to give the Al a lead of 3-1 over the struggling NL squad, yet in the same inning, Griffey would pop up far enough for Carlos Beltran to score and make the game 3-2. Yet in the 8th inning, the AL team began to make an effort to close out the game, as Victor Martinez would score a two run homer to give the Al a 5-2 lead heading to the bottom of the eighth. A comeback would begin in the ninth as the NL scored two runs, but it would fail, as the American League team held on to win the all star match up 5-4.

Special Mention: Ichrio Suzuki was honored as the game's MVP, as his inside the park home run clinched the award in convincing fashion.
