MLB Game of the Day: Tigers vs. Red Sox
In an epic match up between two of the best teams in baseball today, a thriller was in the making was to take place in Michigan, with the Detroit Tigers facing off with the leading Boston Red Sox. David Ortiz would open up the scoring for the Red Sox with a double home run to make the score 2-0. Although the game wouldn't see much offensive action during many of the later innings, it would be revived when Tiger Craig Monroe would double to the outfield to double up and tie the game at two in the 5th. With a great pitcher duel going, there would be no further scoring, and the top notch game would enter extra innings. With the game lengthening, it would take until the 13th inning for a hero to emerge, and that hero was Detroit Tiger Ivan Rodriguez. In the bottom of the 13th inning, Rodriguez decked a ball out of the park with a walk off home run, winning the game and sending the sellout crowd into pandemonium while dealing a a loss to the red hot Red Sox.
